PPT Slides
Below is a list of my user group talks on .NET debugging.
With links to my PowerPoint slides and Word notes.
Description of Content:
1) .NET Debugging Tools other than Visual Studio:
DebugView, FileMon and Process Explorer from the point of view of
.NET applications developers. See slides from 1st half of
2005-09-07 presentation:
Slides-2005-09-07
2) .NET Production Debugging Using Dump Files:
Overview of how to remotely diagnose bugs at customer sites using
dump files. Covers the use of ADPlus, WinDbg and the SOS debugger
extension to create and analyze dump files of .NET programs that
are crashing, hanging or have other bugs.
See slides from 2nd half of 2005-09-07 presentation:

3) What's New in Visual Studio 2005 Debugging:
Overview of enhancements to debugging in VS 2005. This includes Edit
and Continue, DataTips, Debugger Visualizers, Enhanced Breakpoints,

Possible future .NET Debugging topics:
- Using Reflector / ILDasm / ILAsm to better understand details of the
.NET framework that can effect your application code.
- Coding techniques that can make your program more “self-debuggable”:
Catching unhandled exceptions and sending crash / bug reports and
logs directly back to you from the customer.
